Update on questions raised from Chris Middleton EA

1)      Ely Beet Sports & Social - Sale of the Claypit at Roswell: The new (ish) Estate lead (Harriet Christopher, currently covering Jennifer Kingswell’s post) has confirmed that one of her colleagues (Tony Bebbington) will be contacting Ely Beet shortly, if not already, for an update as the sale of this pit has not been as smooth as some of the others. I’ve requested that Tony either emails or phones Tony Brooks from the club.

2)      Histon & District AS - Where to find information on abstraction licences: Check out this link - http://maps.environment-agency.gov.uk/wiyby/wiybyController?topic=water_abstractions&layerGroups=default&lang=_e&ep=map&scale=1&x=357682.99999999994&y=355133.99999999994

3)      Histon & District AS – Flows down the Old West, when do they occur and the possibility of text message alert system: Waterways have got back to me with the following “water transfers occur at night and during the day when required, as they have over at least the previous decade and possibly also beyond. This cannot be facilitated during lock opening hours whilst locking operations are underway although some degree of water will be transferred downstream as a part of the locking process anyway”. With regard to a text message alert which I raised with them, they said “We think its best we include the recharge activity on a new shared calendar for the tidal reaches of the River Great Ouse and Welney Gate status on the Old Bedford. This way the angling clubs could receive notifications directly from the calendar that they manage themselves, we just then update the calendar when recharging the Old West. It will take a bit of time to set up but once done this will be more efficient and allow anyone interested to be able to look and can be used as I-calendar feeds or pulled through to a web site or social media feed so the information would be much more accessible to a larger audience and easier to control, also less likely to be forgotten as sending a text or e-mail manually would be”. I have to agree this sounds like a great idea so watch this space. If we can get these feeds through to a Facebook page the LOFFCA one would be ideal.

Updated rolling maintenance programme attached.
